Terms of Service

1. Who we are

SoCaptions (“SoCaptions”, “we”, “us”) operates the website at socaptions.com and provides an AI caption generator for video. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms.

2. Your account

You sign in with Google. You’re responsible for everything that happens under your account, including keeping your Google credentials safe.

You must be at least 13 years old to use SoCaptions. If you’re using SoCaptions on behalf of a company, you confirm you have the authority to bind that company to these terms.

3. The service

SoCaptions transcribes video you upload, lets you style and edit captions, and exports a captioned MP4. We don’t guarantee perfect transcription accuracy — you’re responsible for reviewing the output before publishing.

We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We’ll try not to break things you depend on without notice.

4. Your content

You keep all rights to the videos you upload and the captions you produce. You only grant us a limited license to store, process, and transcribe that content for the purpose of running the service.

You promise that you have the right to upload and caption every video you process — you own it, you have a license, or it’s lawful fair use. You’re responsible for what you upload.

We may remove content that violates these terms or applicable law. We don’t pre-screen uploads.

5. What you can’t do

Don’t use SoCaptions to:

• Process content you don’t have the right to process.
• Generate captions for content that’s illegal, harassing, or designed to deceive.
• Reverse-engineer the service, or scrape, resell, or repackage it.
• Attempt to bypass rate limits, billing, or authentication.
• Upload malware or anything that could damage our systems or other users.

6. Pricing and billing

The free tier gives you 5 minutes of transcription and edit-only access — no MP4 export.

Pro is $3 per month and includes 100 minutes of transcription per month plus unlimited MP4 exports. Unused minutes don’t roll over.

Billing is handled by Polar, our merchant of record. They’ll process your payment, charge applicable taxes, and send your receipt. Your card details are never stored on our servers.

You can cancel any time from your account. You keep Pro features until the end of the current billing period and won’t be charged again.

7. Refunds

Because of the per-month pricing and the immediate, consumable nature of transcription, we don’t offer refunds for partial months. If something’s gone wrong on our end, email us and we’ll make it right.

8. Intellectual property

The SoCaptions name, logo, brand, code, design, and presets belong to us. Nothing in these terms transfers any of those to you.

You can describe SoCaptions, link to it, and screenshot the editor for reviews and tutorials — don’t pretend to be us or imply we endorse you without our written agreement.

9. Service availability

We try to keep SoCaptions running smoothly, but we don’t promise zero downtime. Maintenance, third-party outages (Google sign-in, AWS, Vercel, Polar, OpenAI), or rare bugs may interrupt service.

10. Disclaimers

SoCaptions is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement — and don’t guarantee the service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or perfectly accurate.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent allowed by law, our total liability arising out of or related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD $50, whichever is greater. We’re not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages.

12. Termination

You can stop using SoCaptions and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that we reasonably believe are putting other users or the service at risk.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the service or the law changes. Material changes will be announced on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Continuing to use the service after changes take effect means you accept them.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Poland. Disputes will be brought in the competent courts of Poland, unless mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence give you a different right.
